Back with a trip to the world's highest suspension bridge in 1053 ft - 321 m, the Royal Gorge Bridge a masterpiece that should not and does not deserve to be overlooked in any plan in Colorado trip.

Royal Gorge suspension bridge was built in 1929 at a cost of $ 350,000 today when the same construction requiring about $ 15 million.
The bridge is situated near Canon City of Colorado's south and extends over one of the Arkansas river canyons, river rises near a loved-Leadville localities which otherwise is situated just 36 miles - 58 km from our house and that is the area of highest altitude of 10,200 ft in North American - 3109 m

The bridge has a length of 1,260 feet - 384 meters, a width of 18 feet - 5 feet and includes the surface of wood scandurigroase 1292, about 250 of which are changed every year. All bridge is suspended between 4 masts 150 feet high - 46 meters through 300 tons of steel cables, below I posted a picture of a section of a cable.
All this masterpiece of engineering can support a weight of 2 million pounds - or about 1 000 tons.

Here when we looked down to see distance took us a little nervous especially because while the bus was passing the bridge near our park and heard about wood as streams.

Here there and most inclined train in the world that takes you to the bridge down to the canyon's. A very unique experience.
Built in 1931 the world's best train tilted 45 degrees down a route of 1,500 feet - 457 meters between two walls of granite by a partition 50 feet - 15 meters. The sensation is fantastic!

At dusk, wasting no opportunity to Volvica and together we embark to cross the Royal Gorge Bridge before going back home happy and fulfilled soul that we had another wonderful experience.

It's amazing what you do ... my enlighten us. How did they make that bridge, almost 100 years ago, I do not understand.
