"We will never be grateful enough to the land that gave us everything."
Constantin Brancusi
In one of my visits to Romania after we have established in USA in a short stop in Tg. Jiu his way to Bucharest did not lose the opportunity to contemplate again, this time in the camera, the beauty of great art works of Constantin Brancusi.
I've always been fascinated by the thought of the great sculptor
"Theories were not only worthless samples. Only the act counts! "the time when Romania was studying martial arts fanatic after even a few words of wisdom expressed by the father of modern sculpture, why not admit that pushed me to get over these difficult times, and because of interest I tried to discover as much information about life of this genius.
I would not want to seem too fanatic and I think personally that saw me become a little more Roman when we get to live abroad and appreciate much more than when I was there Romanian values.
Table of Silence, worked in the limestone, is the mass confrontation before the battle the combatants to participate. Time is now being represented by the circular arrangement of the 12 seats, hourglass, which measures it. Everything in silence.
Born in Hobita near Tg. Jiu in the county in 1876, in an area known for its rich wood carvings, a Romanian peasant family quite poor, Constantin Brancusi at the age of seven years begins to walk with the sheep and at the age of 9 years left village, family and go to Tg. Jiu and at age 13 he went to Craiova where for many years working in a food shop.
By the time he turned 18, impressed by Brancusi's talent to carve in wood working shop owner where he paid his studies at the School of Crafts in Craiova. You learn to write, to read and exploit their artistic talent and graduated with honors in 1898 this school.
"Who does not come from the EU,
did not achieve absolute and deciphers Life! "
In 1903 he went to Munich, Germany and from here go on foot through Switzerland by Langres - France and from there by train to Paris is accepted and appreciated by the community of artists and a few years he was working as an apprentice in the workshop and the Auguste Rodin, French sculptor of those great times.
Even though Rodin admired very much, only 2 months from acceptance by him in his workshop, Brancusi starts mentioning his own career at that time which made him famous:
"No tree can not grow in the shadow of another great tree! "
In 1914, Brancusi opened the first exhibition in America in the Photo Secession Gallery in New York, causing a huge sensation. American collector John Quinn them buy more carvings, making it a favorable material existence of artistic creation.
In 1940 Brancusi participate in the most important sculpture exhibitions in USA, France, Switzerland, Holland, England.
In his studio in the Impasse Ronsin, the heart of Paris, Brancusi and created a world of his, with a frame and a Romanesque atmosphere. National Museum of Modern Art in Paris (Centre Pompidou) has a significant number of works by Brancusi, bequeathed together with all that was in the studio.
Endless Column is a monumental sculpture of Brancusi luiConstantin. Inaugurated on 27 October 1938, column has a height of 29.35 meters and consists of 15 modules octahedral, respectively with the upper and lower ends of each half of the way. Modulii beads were appointed by Brancusi.
Sculpture is a stylization of specific funeral columns southern Romania. Her original name was and endless gratitude column was dedicated to Romanian soldiers killed in World War I in 1916 in fighting on the banks of the Jiu.
And now something that makes me very proud of my origin:
Column has been cast in iron in septembrie1937 the Central Workshops Petrosani (ACP).
This marked not only impressive overall height of Brancusi's creation, and, according to some critics, the early decline.
In the last 19 years of life the artist has made only about 12 works, mostly topics that most exploited in the past. The World War II and the inherent factor of age prevented him to leave Paris later. As his fame grew steadily, former bohemian was becoming more of a recluse. The reluctance to make confessions not know today why that caused a profound change of attitude as an artist. Those who knew him best thought it was just a game, but one in which Brancusi took refuge to protect the public hungry to know him. On the other hand, his loneliness was genuine, for most of his relationships were superficial and purely professional. Because age she did not make his friends, so he chose to take refuge in solitude and silence, even if they received as happy visitors who visit the workshop.
In the last years of life Brancusi was cared for by two Romanian refugees who had moved to the apartment near the studio. To be able to designate these last friends heirs and his studio and works to enter the National Heritage Museum of Modern Art in Paris, Brancusi became a French citizen in 1952. He died on March 16, 1957, at age 81, leaving more than 1,200 photographs and 215 sculptures, of incalculable aesthetic and cultural value.
And so once again I had the chance to get some photos to wonder Americans from here on to us.
"When we are not children, Then I died a lot! "
